Intercession Prayer Venerable Madre Maria Antonia de Jesus

by Carmelitas Descalzas Santiago Compostela

The Venerable Mother María Antonia de Jesús was born in O Penedo (Galicia) on October 6, 1700. She married at the age of 22. Ardently desiring to live for God and to work for His glory, to found the Teresian Carmel in Galicia she embraced innumerable tribulations. For this purpose she traveled the roads of Spain and Portugal on foot. Favored by God with abundant mystical graces, together with her husband and her two children she consecrated herself to God in religious life, entering the Carmel of Corpus Christi in Alcalá de Henares in 1733. In 1748 she finally founded the Carmel of Santiago de Compostela, the first in Galicia, where she died on March 10, 1760. “ Prayer is all exercise of love ” “Let me know your love, Oh Lord, so that I can love you as my soul wishes.” “The lord always likes to find our soul empty -both from the things above and below- so that the Divine Spouse have the pleasure of always filling the emptiness of our soul.” Venerable Mother María-Antonia de Jesús (1700-1760) PRAYER Oh Lord our God, strength of the weak and glory of the humble! You who adorned the soul of the Venerable Mother Maria Antonia with heroic virtues and a burning desire for your glory, even in the midst of great hardships, trials and humiliations, deign to raise her to the glory of the saints. We also beg you grant us the graces we ask through her intercession, for your glory and that of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen. We would be grateful for communicating the graces obtained to the Discalced Carmelite Mothers of Santiago, as well as we thank those who wish to help with the expenses of the Cause.
